So excited to be on the road again!  Not that Random Town, Idaho isn’t breathtaking.  But…it isn’t breathtaking.  And I’m glad to be out of there.

My new favorite store is Les Schwab.  6 new tires later (not taking any chances) and we’re on the road again.

and finally into Utah!

Entering Utah.  Destination: Oakley PRCA Rodeo!

My husband and kids have never been to a rodeo, which seems crazy to me because I grew up surrounded by them.  So they were super excited to finally get to see one.  And a real one, at that.  First stop at the rodeo…the mechanical bull, of course!

Payton and Ellie got thrown after tough go-rounds, but the operator was kind to Shiloh (who was shaking with fear at the beginning) and just gave him a fun and slow ride.

Then on to the show!

I think bareback riding was my favorite.  And barrel racing.  And bull riding.  But I did not like anything involving the young steer.  Wrestling, roping…it all just looks painful and unnecessary.

But, by far, my favorite moment of the night was when Shiloh put on his daddy’s hat, looked at me and smiled and all I could see was the face of his Grandpa Norm.  He is ever present in the face of my little boy.  He would have loved this rodeo.

And when it was all over, we got to see fireworks.

I know I don’t have much to compare it to – but the rodeo is, far and away, my favorite part of the trip so far.  Yeehaw!!
