I’ve been slightly obsessed lately (in a good way) with words, sayings and signs. There are so many out there that are very inspiring. I want to put them on signs and hang them around my house. Really. All over. I thought today’s favorites would be a great way to share some of the inspiration I’ve found.
I need to see this as I leave my room every morning to start the day. So do my kids. Grace, forgiveness, renewal, second chances. This is what our life is about. I don’t want them to forget it.

I don’t love the picture or styling of this sign, but I l-o-v-e the saying. This is my Ellie. And I want her to stay this way always. Knowing who she is. And knowing that her uniqueness makes her beautiful.
********************************************************
Runners of every speed, be proud. You are faster than everyone who is sitting down.

Most folks are about as happy as they make up their minds to be. How happy do you want to be?
******************************************************
Yes. I believe I will. Life is to valuable to waste doing what I dislike.
****************************************************************
In the moment. Grateful for each blessing in each second.

This sign isn’t anything I’d hang on my wall. But I do want to be that woman. I think you’ll find her in Proverbs 31.
********************************************************************
To hang above my kids’ bookshelves. Reading is a big deal in our family.
****************************************************************
We tell our kids this all the time. My husband heard it from his parents. My kids will pass it on. It’s a good rule.
*****************************************************************
When Ellie gets her own room, this will hang on her wall.

As my kids grow up, I pray they know this to the very depths of themselves.
******************************************************************
Yep.

My new motto. For life.

Other wordy inspiration that was found throughout blogland, though not in picture form:
“Don’t ever become so busy that you fail to realize how happy you are.“
“If you want something you’ve never had before, you’ve got to do something you’ve never done before.” ~Drina Reed
“Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn’t do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.” ~Mark Twain
“You are never too old to set another goal or to dream a new dream…” ~CS Lewis
“Be fearless.” ~Julia Child
“Wherever you are, be all there.” ~Elisabeth Elliot
“Overcome the notion that you must be regular. It robs you of the chance to be extraordinary.” ~Uta Hagen
And the quote that I remind myself of every day…spoken by a mother at a Young Life Women’s Weekend:
“It’s just a phase. It won’t last forever. And you don’t get it back.”
Good day or bad day. Fighting or happy. Whatever happens with my children. I am brought back to my knees in thankfulness and gratitude by the idea that where we are right now is only a moment and once that moment passes, it never returns. I am grateful for the moments. For the here and now. For the phase that’s passing. This is where we are and it is so, so good (even when it’s not good) because it is so, so fleeting.
I hope you found some inspiration today too. Happy Friday everyone!

thanks Heidi – good WORDS. I felt inspired by all of it (some I had to alter slightly since I’m not very womanly) except operation nice – for which I have mixed and opposing feelings. Just was talking about it with Mark this morning. It only works right if it’s from the heart and sometimes, what’s from the heart does not fit the gentlemanly / ladylike definition. And, that may be received with discomfort. But what is true is always better than what is nice if authentic is properly in place. Oh, what a match – truth and love… can it really be done?
I love the Life is Good sentiment and it takes one of your signs a bit further…..Do what you like, like what you do! I love that! I also love Bark less, Wag more! I think we all need to remember to do this, and as a dog lover it makes me smile. I love all of these ideas and I’m hoping to maybe make some signs of my own. Thanks for the inspiration!
